Oracle Saves the Season

A statement from the Nashville Musicians Association, AFM Local 257 and the Musicians of the Nashville Symphony regarding the re-instatement of the 2026-27 season following a $10 million donation from Oracle to the Nashville Symphony Orchestra:

First, we are incredibly grateful to Oracle for their generosity, as well as the outpouring of support from the Nashville community and orchestras around the world. We look forward to this new relationship with Oracle and are excited about the opportunities it could bring.

Second, we still have many questions about how the Nashville Symphony got to a place where 77 musicians and 27 staffers were informed with less than three week’s notice that they were being furloughed and their health insurance
terminated. Something went horribly wrong, and we as an organization need to know what happened so it won’t happen again. Nashville deserves a world-class orchestra with world-class musicians, and we are committed to maintaining that standard.

Third, and most importantly, we are thrilled that we can continue to bring NSO performances and educational activities to Nashville and all of Middle Tennessee. The sound of music will not be silent in Music City.

In Harmony, Unity and Solidarity,
Joel Reist, Chair, Nashville Symphony Orchestra Committee
Dave Pomeroy, President, Nashville Musicians Association, AFM Local 257
